The willingness to develop an active and sustainable youth network in Bangkok, to support youth activists and youth organisations' engagement, inspired ActionAid Thailand to open a Café in Bangkok in the form of a social enterprise. The Global Café Project would provide a safe space for and led by youth from different communities and movements to connect, share, get inspired and find collective ways to take action. This project is linked with a network of Global Platform already existing around the world, please find more information at

Youth would own a space for youth engagement and empowerment, to meet, debate on political and socio- economic issues, build up their network, find support and be trained to develop their skills (e.g. communication, campaigning, leadership, feminism, etc.). The Café will also be a source of inspiration and a socio-cultural meeting point, where people, such as activists or artists, could expose their work (e.g. photo exhibition) or host an event or a debate.

The Global Café project: A social enterprise led by the youth for the youth! We speak about social enterprise because it means that we are committed to our goal of social change and use social entrepreneurship approaches to generate revenue which will contribute to the running cost of the place. As we want the process to be participative and inclusive, we are seeking support from competent and dedicated youth volunteers in the development of this innovative social business.
