Our work

We focus on the people that others forget. People in poverty. People who face discrimination. People whose voices are ignored.

We help people fight for the rights that they are denied. Simple things, like the right to eat. The right to stay on their land. To an education. To have a say in the decisions that shape their lives.

We’re not about giving handouts or telling people what to do, because in the long run we know that doesn’t work. Instead, we use our resources, influence and experience to help people find their own solutions.

We listen to what people really want and need. We help communities take action together to hold their governments to account, and we give local organisations our support where they need it. Together, we’re making a lasting difference.

What do we do about ?

 Youth in action
Young people are important agents of change. They have initiated many remarkable changes in Thai politics in the past. This spirit continues in the youth’s social concerns and involvement on political, social and environmental issues, and is currently expressed through active public advocacy campaigns and more recently in social media spaces.

 Rights to Education
Education remains vital to reducing poverty and inequality in Thailand. Thai government provides children access to education until grade 12. However, the quality of education is still inconsistent.Due to limited number of students per school in the rural and remote areas, the Ministry of Education has issued a policy to merge and close down 7,000 small schools all over the country. Consequently, this directly affects children, their families and communities.

 Women's Rights
Women hold an important role in the development at different levels: family, community and society. Even though the equality of women is technically being acknowledged in Thailand, it is uneven in term of implementation.Domestic violence still occurs in society. Many people look at domestic violence as private/family issue. Besides, women do not get proper information on available protection and support mechanisms provided by government and the private sector.

 EU-Funded Projects
ActionAid Thailand may be known by many from our works in educational mobilisation and women’s rights, though, as an organisation that take action on the basis of human rights, we acknowledge the issues a large number of small farmers and remote communities face, especially ones concerning their rights to access lands and natural resources.

From 2018-2021, with the support of the European Union, we are working closely with partners in tackling these issues.
